1 - UnZip 2020 Download Zip & UnZip 2020 for Windows - Mac OS - Mobile iOS - Mobile Android. 1 Unzip is compatible with all compression archive formats.zip.7z.rar.arj.dmg.gzip.rpm.tar.xar.z.bin.cab.chm.iso.msi.udf and more. 1 Unzip is a file archiver to open all compressed files or to create new archive.
- Double-click on the file. Because 'Archive Utility' is integrated into your macOS, the Zipped file will automatically open up and dump the contents into a folder bearing its name; the folder will be in the same directory as the Zipped file too. Method 2 (Archive Utility): 1. Move your cursor over to the Zipped file or files and select them.
- First off, as of OS X 10.6.4, the Unix zip and unzip programs that you can start from a terminal shell script do NOT handle resource forks and extended attributes correctly. The zip man file has an apology that this will be implemented soon.
- These errors can be fixed via Terminal or any decompression utility software, which of course will be a third-party software: Method 1 (Terminal): 1. Launch Terminal on your Mac. Type this command in the Terminal: unzip /Downloads/example.zip (Replace the 'Downloads' you see in the above example with the directory of your Zipped file.

May 31, 2012ive been using my mac to unzip zip arhcive files ive downloaded from the internet and for the past few months ive had to troubles at all. but more recently my mac wouldnt actuallty zip the files. so i started using a free application in the app store called stuffit expander. but now even stuffit expander wont unzip my files. what is happening? the stuffit expander just says it is unable to recognize the file type which makes no sense, and when i use the default unzip application already on my mac it just turns the zip file into a file with the extension .cpgz

Software :: Chicken And Egg Can't Unzip Downloaded Unzipper?
Sep 8, 2010Have an older version of unstuffit from 2007. Just downloaded Arc Explorer GIS Reader in zipped format and there is something in the header that makes stuffit stop before unzipping.
So I went to CNET for a later unzipper to see if that is the problem, downloaded MacZip (most downloads with Stuffit 2010 next).
I got an .hqx file and nothing I have is interested in opening the .hqx file or launching or whatever is required.
Guess I'll try for Stuffit 2010 and see if that works better but any thoughts would be appreciated.

OS X :: Cannot Unzip .zip File With Anything
Jun 22, 2009So I downloaded two free mixtapes recently and I was unable to open the first. I downloaded it again and tried again, same error. I figured no big deal, but when I got the same 'Error 1 - Operation Not Permitted' for the second file days later, I got mad.
I repaired disc permissions and tried again, still the same error.
So I tried with StuffIt and it said 'The archive may be damaged (Error #17537)'. I downloaded Zipeg and tried both files-it said 'file type not supported'.
I tried the Terminal:
grant-austins-macbook:~ Grant$ unzip bobbyraynodj.zip
unzip: cannot find or open bobbyraynodj.zip, bobbyraynodj.zip.zip or bobbyraynodj.zip.ZIP.
Same error for the other file. After all that, I restarted and tried it all again, and got the same results

Sep 12, 2014I have downloaded an mp3 audiobook from my public library's online database that I would like to load to iTunes. When I double-clicked it to decompress it, all I got was a .cpgz file Double clicking the .cpgz file only created the file again. I downloaded other software such as Stuffit and Unarchiver, but got error messages that the file was not recognized or could not be opened with that program. I also tried to use Terminal and Archive utility, but no luck.

Software :: Downloaded File Disappears / Unable To Find Downloaded Files
Apr 28, 2010About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the 'anchor' and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to 'shake it loose'. Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the 'foibles'. 'What happened on the way to the Forum'?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.

OS X :: Downloaded MS DOS Executable File
Dec 29, 2009I was just looking up the songs of the noughties, and I came across what appeared to be a blog, judging on the description google gave me. However on later inspection it appeared to be a kitchen website. Anyway on the website there was what appeared to be a video, and I was asked to do something, although it was in a windows style 'window' rather that the OS X style. I was promoted to download something from [URL] and I clicked ok, as this window would not go away otherwise, however I cannot find it on my mac, and it says it was an ms-dos executable file, does that mean it will not work on my mac? Here is the blog: [URL]

Software :: Add URL Of Downloaded File To Metadata?
May 2, 2010It used to be (back in the day) that when I downloaded a file the originating URL would get added automatically into the Get Info window. That was extremely handy and painless - no copy/pasting needed!
These days I'm running Snow Leopard and I notice that, not only isn't this info added automatically, there isn't even a PLACE for it in the Get Info window anymore. How can I get this functionality back so that I can return to a file's originating URL somewhere down the line if the need arises?

OS X :: Unable To Open Downloaded File For Software Update
Feb 8, 2009When I try to use Software Update it downloads the file but will not open, and shows me the error message, 'Update can't be installed - Software Update could not expand the package correctly'. This happened the first time a week ago and I thought was an isolated event, but it is happening again, so obviously there is a problem with Software Update. If I download it from Apple through Safari it works.
